Freshly made is always better.
Today we have tortillas!
Growing up in a Mexican household, tortillas were a must. Visiting our familial hometown of Guadalajara was always a tong of fun and the best part was always the food. My Grandmother would wake up the younger kids and have us go down to the tortilleria (tortilla factory) early morning to get three dozen hot freshly made tortillas. You probably are asking, "Really? What's so special about that we have them made here in the US too." Well to be honest there is a huge difference. The dough used here is more watery and the tortillas are made way too thin. The tortillas in mexico, even while machine made are still much thicker and better. The best part is that they are HOT!
Now even better than that are tortillas made at home. Yes you use a hand press, but is still even thicker than the normal tortilla. The best part is that you can add your own flavoring to it!
So here is my recipe for hand made tortillas. I have to say this, you will never ever want to have just plain and simple tortillas once you have made a batch like these!
This recipe is fairly easy and once you get the hang of the process you will speed on through it. Below is a quick video tutorial for you to see how I pulled it all together.
